Jarv Dee is the former hype man of Cloud Nice and lyricist of Kingdom Crumbs. He’s also one of the founding members of Seattle’s Moor Gang, the local super collective that includes Nacho Picasso and Gifted Gab (to name just a few). But his latest EP, The Red Eye Jedi, offers an in-depth view of Dee alone—it’s a rare release that doesn’t include any features from the multitude of artists Dee is associated with.
After releasing “Kanji” in November of 2016, his second solo project, Scotty Sensei has continued to bring a fresh vibe to the Bellingham Hip Hop scene. Working with Dextro under Anime House Records, the two of them create a sound that fuses modern production with hard, yet conscious “intergalactic” lyricism. With 2017 underway and still a great buzz on Kanji, Sensei has a lot planned for this year to keep the people listening.
