A message from Craig:

After turning 21 years old, it took me about a month to step foot into the Wild Buffalo House of Music and I immediately fell in love with the place.  While it wasn’t necessarily a bar/venue that attracted college students on a regular basis back then, my friends and I made it our home.  Not too much longer after I had went to the Buffalo for the first time, the staff and then owner at the time, John Goodman, let me know that there was a very good chance that the venue was going to be closing down soon.  I then started volunteering my time and work to do whatever I could do to help keep the place afloat.  Then out of the blue came an opportunity to take the place over with two investors and business partners.  I was scared out of my mind.  I was a broke college student with a year left at WWU and had absolutely no idea what I was doing.  But I decided that I just had to doit.  I jumped in feet first and became part-owner of a music venue with virtually no experience whatsoever.

Fast forward ten years.  I’m still here.  It’s a miracle, but I’m still here.  And the reason that I am still here is not just because of all of the work that I have done here by any means at all.  There is no way I would be here without the help of my business partners.  I’ve had five total business partners (currently two) and they have done so much in helping this place actually become a successful business.  There is no way I would still be here without all of the amazing staff members that have worked WITH me here over the past decade.  There is no way I would still be here without John Goodman giving me a chance and by helping me throughout this crazy ride.  There is no way that I would still be here without all of the local musicians that I’ve watched grow and who have helped me grow.  And most importantly, I would absolutely not be here today if it wasn’t for the amazing community of Bellingham that has supported the Wild Buffalo over the past ten years.  Also, shoutout to my parents.  I was scared to tell them that I was buying a music venue with less than a thousand dollars in my bank account and they ended up finding out from a friend.  Needless to say, they’ve been beyond supportive of me.

So thank all of you so much for allowing me to have my dream job and here’s to another ten years! Viva la Buffalo!
